Swim Lessons

Simpkins Family Swim Center offers year-round group, private, and semi-private swim lessons for students of all ages and abilities! Instructors work with each student to personalize lessons and improve comfortability in the water and develop proper swim technique!

Current Swim Lesson Offerings

Most Group and Private STAFF lessons typically take place in 2-week Sessions meeting either on Tuesdays / Thursdays (4 classes per session) or on Monday/Wednesday/Friday (6 classes per session).   Registration fee(s) indicated for each activity are for the session. Each lesson is 30 minutes in length.  Please note we do not offer make up lessons if a participant is absent.    

FALL 2023 Sessions 1-3  (End of August through End of September) will be held on Tues/Thurs Afternoons-Evenings between 3pm-6:30pm.  

Registration for FALL Sessions 1, 2, 3  (Late August through September) Opened Friday 8/11 at 9:00am.  All registration takes place online or phone-in on a first-come, first-served basis.   For phone assistance with online account access or swim lesson registration please call 454-7953  M-F 10AM-4PM

If desired lesson time(s) are full, we encourage you to enroll to the waiting list(s), free of charge, for any interested activities. You will be contacted by phone if additional space becomes available.  Full payment for registration is due at the time that registration is confirmed.    

BEFORE REGISTERING Please see the group swim level descriptions below before enrolling or wait-listing online, or contact swim center staff at 454-7953 to determine a child's group level placement, or to schedule a free swim level assessment.  Most participants will typically need to repeat the same class level several sessions before leveling up.      

 

Group Swim Lessons

Simpkins Family Swim Center offers year-round group swim lessons for students of all ages and abilities! Staff instructors work with small groups of students based on swim level. Group lessons are fun and aim to improve comfortability in the water and develop proper swim technique!

Private & Semi-Private Swim Lessons

Simpkins Family Swim Center offers year-round private and semi-private swim lessons for all ages 3 & up, taught by Swim Center staff. You or your child will be given undivided attention from one of our experienced swim instructors!

Private Contractors Swim Lessons

Simpkins Family Swim Center partners with private contractors to offer more swim lesson opportunities! All instructors have multiple years of experience teaching swimming and hold a combination of certificates. Their varied teaching experience includes: working with children of all ages and abilities; all levels of swimmers including fearful adults; special needs; stroke refinement; and technical stroke instruction for triathletes.

Pools & Amenities
  • Swim lessons will take place in either the 50-meter lap swim pool or warm water pool, depending on programming.
  • Amenities include locker rooms, bathrooms, ADA-accessible hot showers, lockers (bring your own lock), and swimsuit spinners. No towel service is available.
Accessibility

A water wheel chair is available at the swim center. Each pool has stationary, ADA compliant lifts plus a mobile lift for entry into the pools. An additional gender-inclusive bathroom is available with an ADA shower, changing bed, locker, and toilet.
