Bring your family and friends to  enjoy an afternoon of swimming, games, food, and music. All of the summer recreation swim options will be available, including the water slide, aqua climb wall, deep-end inner tubes, and the Wibit inflatable fun course! 3rd Annual Parks & Rex Event

Saturday August 27, 2017

On August 27, 2017 the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter and the Santa Cruz County Parks Department will be hosting a fundraiser for Youth Recreation Programs and the shelter animals.  The event, Parks & Rex, will be held at the Simpkins Family Swim Center, 979 17th Ave., from noon – 4 p.m.  Everyone will have a blast at this end-of-summer summer celebration, which will include with local craft beer, great food (vegetarian options available), games, music, fun in the pool for adults, children, and your dog(s)! 
 
The 50-meter pool will have scheduled activities for adults and children, featuring inner tubes, Wibit (inflatable play apparatus), inflatable hamster wheels, stand-up paddle boards, and a climbing wall. Music will be provided by a D.J., and you'll have a chance to win some great prizes in the raffle!  Dogs will be invited for a dip in the splash-down pool, they will be pampered at the doggie day-spa (featuring dog massage and mani-pedi services), as well other pup-tastic activities including professional photos, fun games, as well as a special treat - Puptinis, poolside! 

Tickets on the day of the event will be available at the door - $17 for adults and $7 for anyone under age 21. Kids ages 3 and under, as well as dogs, get in free!   Don't miss this fun day in the sun, which will benefit local kids and shelter animals.

The Simpkins Family and the Santa Cruz County Parks Dept. are co-sponsoring two fun FREE swim days, July 4 and Labor Day, which will include the water slide,  climbing wall, Wibit inflatable play apparatus, floating on inner tubes, the Warm-water Pool, 50-meter Pool, and spray zone.  The free days will also include a barbecue hosted by the Boys and Girls Club, and music.  Free swim days are very popular, with over 800 attending last year. Get here early! First-come, first-served! 

 

Superkid Triathlon

In addition to pumpkins, we've got plenty of other fun activities planned for the day, including games, prizes, music, popcorn, and pumpkin decorating, and the waterslide will be open! Costumes are encouraged.  Bring your suit and towel, your friends and family, and make a day of it!  This is a drop-in, rain or shine event; pre-registration is not required.  Please note: The floating pumpkin patch opens at 1:30.  Don't miss this fun fall family event at the Swim Center!

Event admission: $7.00 adults/$5.00 children & seniors.  Swim for a pumpkin - $4.00/pumpkin.  Free parking!
