Opal Cliffs Recreation District

 

The Opal Cliffs Recreation District (OCRD) was a special district in the Opal Cliffs area (generally extending from 41st Avenue to the City of Capitola City limits) of Live Oak. It was dissolved on April 11, 2022.

Major Dates Timeline
  • August 17, 2021: The reorganization was initiated by the Opal Cliffs Recreation District Board of Directors following the adoption of a resolutionPDF
  • October 11, 2021: Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) recieved a signed application, with the adopted resolution.
  • February 9, 2022: After completing the LAFCO process, LAFCO considered and approved the reorganization during its regular board meeting.
  • March 11 to March 31, 2022: Protest period, during which residents could submit Petitions of Opposition against the reorganization.
  • March 31, 2022: Protest hearing was held to tally the petitions.
  • April 11, 2022: Opal Cliffs Recreation District was dissolved, and Opal Cliffs County Park was established. PDF
